Using Text Chat nicknames

You can specify nicknames in the phonebook record settings.

Changing a nickname for a phonebook record

The change affects all connections made using a phonebook record.

To change a nickname for a phonebook record:

Right-click on the target phonebook record and select the 'Properties' menu item. The 'Connection properties' window will appear ( illustration).

Select the Chat tab ( illustration).

Enter a nickname.
Click on the Ok button.

To change a nickname during chat and update the phonebook record:

Issue a 'Settings' command by clicking on the 'Settings' toolbar button ( details). The 'Chat Settings' window will appear ( illustration).
The Settings command can be issued in a number of ways:

By clicking on the Settings toolbar button.

By selecting the "Tools"->"Settings" menu command.

By hitting the <Ctrl>+<S> hotkey.

Enter the new nickname.
Click on the Ok button to change the nickname. The setting of the corresponding phonebook record (if it exists) will be updated.

To temporarily change a nickname during chat:

Issue the 'Change Nick' command by clicking on the

'Change Nick' toolbar button (
