Add New Windows Credential Type
Use this dialog to create a Windows credential
type for use with the credentials system. The Credentials system
stores Windows account information for monitors and devices in your
WhatsUp Gold database i.e. login.

Enter a name for the credential type. This name appears in the
Credentials Library list.
- . Enter a short description for
this credential. The description appears with the name in the
Credentials Library list.
- . Enter the domain and user
login to use with this credential. In order to monitor a
service on your devices, the Windows credential has to be
configured with the correct domain, user name and password and a
user account that belongs to the administrators group on the remote
machine. If a domain account is used, then the expected user
name format is domain\user. If the device
is on a workgroup, there are two possible user names: workgroup name\user or machine
name\user. In any case, the Domain\UserID must contain the \
character.
- . Enter the password for the login
used above. To monitor NT services on a XP machine with an account
that has empty password, the XP's Local Security Settings might
have to be modified. From Administrative tools > Local Security
Settings, click on Security Settings > Local Policies >
Security Options. Then right click on the setting: and click Properties, and select
