Backing up databases

This procedure describes how to perform a database backup.

To back up a database

  1. Change the host and instance you want to access.

  2. Select File > Backup SQL Server objects.

  3. In the Backup Microsoft SQL Server Objects dialog box, in the left pane, select the database instance.

  4. In the right pane, select one or more databases that you want to back up.

  5. Select the Type of Backup.

    Select one of the following:

    • To perform a full backup, select Full backup.

    • To back up the database with the differential option, select Perform differential backup.

  6. Select the backup options.

  7. Click Backup.

  8. When you are prompted to start the backup, click Yes.

  9. To view the progress of the backup, select File > View status.

500 Internal Server Error

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
