Options

Restore Destination Choices

  • Restore everything to its original location

This option is the default. Select this option to restore the marked items to the same location from where they were backed up.

  • Restore everything to a different location (maintaining existing structure)

Select this option to restore all marked items to a different location from where they were backed up.

In the Destination field, enter the path for the new destination.

You can also click Browse to locate the destination.

  • Restore individual directories (folders) and files to different locations

Select this option to restore individual items to locations that are different from where they were backed up.

To restore a directory and all of its contents to a different location, mark the directory.

To restore files to a different location, you must mark each file.

Double-click any marked item to change its restore location.

  • Create and restore to a new virtual hard disk file

For windows 2008 R2 clients and Windows 7 clients, you can restore marked items to a new, virtual hard disk (VHD) file.

If you select this option, you must specify a new VHD file. You cannot restore to an existing VHD file with this option.

When you enter the destination path and the file name for the new VHD file, do not include the .vhd extension. The extension is added automatically.

After you enter the new destination path and the file name, click Properties. You must set the VHD file size and select the behavior of the file as follows:

    • Virtual hard disk size

Select the VHD file size. Make sure that you do not exceed the maximum available amount of space.

    • Dynamically expanding (default)

If you select this option, the VHD file expands up to the specified Virtual hard disk size.

    • Fixed size

If you select this option, the VHD file is created by using the specified Virtual hard disk size, regardless of the amount of data to be restored.

Restore Options

  • Restore without access control attributes (Windows clients only)

By default, files are restored with the same access control attributes as they were at the time of their backup.

Select this option to restore the selected files without the access control attributes that existed at the time of their backup.

Under certain conditions, system administrators can select this option. Regular users are restricted from selecting this option.

  • Overwrite existing files

By default, this option is not selected to avoid overwriting current files.

Select this option to overwrite or replace files in the destination directory with the same names.

  • Restore the file using a temporary filename

Select this option to prevent overwriting a file with the same name in the destination folder.

This option is available only when the restore request is performed from the same computer where the files were backed up. (Files from Backup Exec images cannot be restored with temporary file names.)

  • Do not restore the file

By default, this option is selected to prevent the restore operation from overwriting a file with the same name in the destination folder.

For example, if your destination choice is set to Restore everything to its original location, marked files with the same names are not restored.

If you deselect this option and your destination choice is set to Restore everything to its original location, files in the destination folder with the same names are overwritten.

Job Priority

  • Override default priority

Select this option to change the priority for the current restore operation.

    The available range is 0 - 99999.

The higher the number, the greater the job priority.

See About Job Priority for restores.
