Restore window

The Restore window lets you search the displayed backup images for the files, folders, volumes, or registry keys that you can mark for restore.

If you use a NetBackup Oracle or DB2 agent, the database appears.

Note:

Backup images can expire after a certain amount of time (configured by your NetBackup administrator). If a backup image expires, you cannot see or restore its files.

To open a Restore window

The items you can mark for restore appear in the following panes:

NetBackup History

This pane shows all of the client backup images that reside on the server. Only the images that have not expired are shown.

When a Restore window first opens, the following backup images are displayed and selected by default:

  • Most recent full backup

  • All cumulative-incremental backups and differential-incremental backups that occurred since the most recent full backup

  • All user-directed backups that occurred since the most recent full backup

Several backup image icons may appear under a single a date. The most current backup image is on top of the list. As you move the cursor over the icons, pop-ups show the schedule type and the date and time of the backup.

By default, the backup images are shown in a timeline format with all images since (and including) the most recent full backup selected. In a timeline view, selected images are enclosed in a box. In a details view, selected items are highlighted.

See Backup image icons.

If there is no full backup, only the most recent image is selected.

All Folders

This pane shows all folders of the volume or drive that appear in the selected backup image.

When a Restore window first opens, this pane shows all folders in the backup images that are selected in the NetBackup History pane.

To adjust the widths of the All Folders pane and the Contents pane, drag the bar that separates the panes.

Contents

This pane shows the files from the most recent backup (View > Show Most Recent Backup). If the client belongs to multiple policies, all backup images since the earlier of the most recent full backups from those policies are selected.

When a Restore window first opens, this pane shows the computer drives in the backup images that are selected in the NetBackup History pane. If multiple backup images are selected, multiple copies of a computer drive may appear in this pane.

You can change the panes in the following ways:

To display the contents of a folder:

In the All Folders pane, click once on the appropriate folder.

To resize columns in a pane:

Click and drag the border of a column head.

To sort information:

Click the column header where you want to sort.

For example, to sort from the smallest to the largest size, click the Size column head. Click it again to sort from the largest to the smallest.

To adjust the widths of the All Folders and the Contents panes:

Click and drag the bar that separates the panes.

To select the columns that you want displayed:

See Column Layout dialog box.

The columns you can display depend on where you browse and the agents and options you have installed. The general columns are as follows:

  • Name

  • Time Backed Up

  • Attributes

  • Size

  • Time Modified
