Specifying a backup policy and schedule

Normally, when you perform a backup or an archive from the client, you do not need to specify a backup policy and a schedule. The NetBackup administrator configures the policy and the schedule from the master server for each client.

If you need to change the backup policy or the schedule that is currently specified for the client, use the procedure that follows. This procedure overrides the policy and the schedule settings on the master server. These changes apply only to the backup window that is currently open.

To specify a backup or an archive policy and schedule for the current backup window

  1. Open a backup window by clicking File > Select Files and Folders to Backup.

  2. Click Actions > Specify Policy and Schedule.

  3. In the Backup Policy and Schedule dialog box, make the appropriate selections:

    For backup operations

    • In the Backup Policy field, enter the appropriate policy type.

    • In the Backup Schedule field, enter the appropriate schedule.

    For archive operations

    • In the Archive Policy field, enter the appropriate policy type.

    • In the Archive Schedule field, enter the appropriate schedule.

  4. Click OK.
