Machine default language
|
NetBackup can support
different languages. Use the option to select the language for NetBackup
to use on the local machine. Unless otherwise specified by the
User selected language, the
Machine default language selection is
the language that is used for NetBackup. The default language is
the language used by the operating system.
|
User selected language
|
Individual users can set
the User selected language to their
preferred language. The default is the Machine default language setting.
Note:
|
If no
alternate language packs are installed, the choices on the
drop-down menus are limited to Default.

|
Disable cache for the local network
browse
|
This setting determines
whether the host cache is used to browse for a host on the network.
Enable Disable cache for the local network
browse when the network is dynamic and hosts are added and
removed often.
|
Disable ping connection checking
|
When this check box is
unchecked, NetBackup tries to ping a host before it attempts a
NetBackup call to the host. A ping returns an error quickly if it
cannot access the host. If the ping fails, a NetBackup connection
is not attempted.
When the check box is
checked, a ping is not attempted before NetBackup connects to a
host. The setting may need to be checked to connect through a
firewall if the firewall rejects connections to the port that ping
uses.
|
Disable Microsoft service API
calls
|
The Activity Monitor uses
Microsoft APIs to obtain information for services and processes. If
this setting is checked, services and processes do not display.
|
Shade alternate lines in list
views
|
Enable to display
alternate list entries in the right pane of the NetBackup
Administration Console with a lightly shaded background.
|
GUI connect timeout
|
The option specifies the
number of seconds NetBackup tries for a connection. On most
networks the timeout can be set to a lesser time to speed up error
detection. On slower networks GUI connect
timeout can remain at the default setting of 300
seconds.
|
Auto log off timeout
|
The option
allows NetBackup to automatically log a user out of the NetBackup
Administration Console after a period of inactivity. The session
must be inactive for the configurable number of minutes, hours, or
days before the logoff.
To log off users automatically, enable the option. Then, select the
duration after which the user is logged off from an inactive
session. The minimum logoff duration is 10 minutes and the maximum
is two days.
Five minutes before the timeout value is reached, NetBackup
warns the user that the session is to expire in five minutes.
If the logoff warning appears, the user can choose
one of the following options:
-
Ignore
If the user selects this option (or does not respond to the
warning), a dialog box displays the time that remains before the
session ends. Countdown warnings display every minute until the
timeout value is reached. When the session ends, the user is logged
out of the console.
-
Extend
If the user selects this option, the session continues and the
timeout is extended by the logoff timeout value.
If the user begins to work at the console again, the logoff is
canceled until the console is left idle again.
-
Log off
If the user selects this option, the session ends and NetBackup
logs off the user immediately.
