Set the time window in which backups for this policy can start. The type of window that you set on this screen depends on the following options you chose earlier in the wizard: instant recovery snapshots, full backup, or incremental backup.
For the backups that go to a storage unit, start backups when resources are least occupied with business critical operations. For many sites, this time is late at night ( ). Although snapshot creation has little impact on the client, the moving of data to storage can affect client, server, and network performance.
For instant recovery snapshots to disk, choose . Such snapshots require no data movement and when you create them throughout the day, they have better data protection. The more often snapshots are created, the more disk space they require.
For in-depth assistance on backup frequency and start windows, refer to the NetBackup Administrator's Guide, Volume I.
To set additional options, use the Policy dialog box, Schedule tab, in the NetBackup Administration Console.
