Media ID generation rules lets you override the default media ID naming method. The default method uses the last six characters of the bar code label from the tape. Control how NetBackup creates media IDs by defining the rules that specify which characters of a bar code label to use for the media ID.

To use media ID generation rules, the robot must support bar codes and the robot cannot be an API robot.
