Select this attribute to make snapshot-based backups.
Snapshot Client provides snapshot-based local and off-host backup, and includes the features of FlashBackup and Instant Recovery. It supports clients on many platforms, on Fibre Channel networks (SANs) and traditional LANs. NetBackup for VMware and NetBackup for Hyper-V require this feature.
A snapshot is a point-in-time, read-only, disk-based copy of a client volume. After the snapshot is created, NetBackup backs up data from the snapshot, not directly from the client's primary or original volume. Users and client operations can access the primary data without interruption while data on the snapshot volume is being backed up.
Note the following:
If you are backing up a virtual machine, and a NetBackup client is not installed on the virtual machine, you must select the Perform snapshot backups attribute.
If FlashBackup-Windows is the policy type, Perform snapshot backups is automatically selected.
If Bare Metal Restore is installed, you must deselect to select .
