Volume Group

The name of the volume group. A volume group defines the volumes by location. A volume group is a logical group of volumes that are at the same physical location. More than one volume group can share the same location.

Volume groups can help you administer multiple volumes.

By using a volume group, you can perform the following actions:

  • Logically move a set of volumes between a robotic library and a standalone location

  • Delete them by specifying the group name rather than specifying each individual media ID.
