Running a qualification test

The test steps are executed in an ordered sequence to evaluate the functionality of a storage device.

To run a qualification test

  1. In the NetBackup Administration Console, expand Media and Device Management > Devices.

  2. Select the device type, as follows:

    Actions > Drive Qualification.

    Actions > Robot Qualification.

  3. In the qualification dialog box, select the device host that has the device that you want to qualify.

Test History shows all of the qualification tests that have been started for the device. Test instances remain until you delete them.

  4. Click New.

  5. Select the device to qualify and the test type.

If you select Custom, you can enable or disable individual test steps.

  6. Click Start Test.

The qualification dialog box appears, from which you can monitor the test.

You can start other tests for different devices.

  7. If the State column of the Results window contains Waiting, operator intervention is required.

For example, a test step may prompt you to load a new tape into a drive before the test can continue.

Click Details for a test step that requires intervention.

After intervention, close the Test Details dialog and then click Continue in the qualification dialog box.

  8. To see the results of a test, select the test in the Test History window.

The test results are stored in a log file; the file identifies the device name and the time the test was started.

  9. You can close the dialog box while tests are in progress
