Changing the Agent User Account Password

On Windows NT platforms, use the Administrative Tools > User Manager utility.
On Windows 2000 and Windows XP platforms, use the Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Local Users and Groups utility.

Note: If you have installed Symantec LiveState Delivery on a domain as a single administrative unit with member servers, you must synchronize the new password so that it is distributed consistently over the domain and all member servers.

In the Scope pane, expand the server name, then expand Administrators.
Select Agent User Account to display the account name in the Result pane.
Select and right-click the smeclnt account name, and click Properties.
In the smeclnt Properties dialog box fill out the fields as follows:

Field	Description
Name	The Agent Account name. The name must contain between 3 and 20 characters from the character sets A-Z, a-z, 0-9, !#$%^&()_-'{}`~.=+?@. No other special characters are allowed.
Password	Type the new password. The current password appears as a series of xxxx. The name must contain between 3 and 32 characters from the character sets A-Z, a-z, 0-9, !#$%^&()_-'{}`~.=+?@. No other special characters are allowed.
Confirm Password	Type the new password to confirm it.

Click OK. The Confirm Old Password dialog appears.

Type the old password and click OK.

The Agent User Account smeclnt now has the new password.

Changing the Agent User Account Password

If policies at your site require that you change all passwords on a regular basis, you may need to change the password for the Agent User Account, smeclnt. This password is stored in two places.

Warning: These two passwords must be identical. When you change the smeclntuser account password, you must change both instances.

Note: Symantec LiveState Delivery managed Windows NT, 2000, and XP computers have smeclnt user accounts and passwords automatically assigned to them by the Agent for Windows in Symantec LiveState Delivery. When you change the smeclnt user account password on the server, the Agent for Windows reads the new password from the server’s smelogin file and automatically assigns it to the managed Windows NT/2000 computer. It is not necessary to manually change the smeclnt user account password on each Windows NT/2000/XP computer.
