Reboot Setting for Pre-OS Errors

In some situations with high network load, the Pre-OS Agent may lose its communication with the Configuration Server resulting in an error state during the execution of a Pre-OS package. A Pre-OS job can include such tasks as building a new computer, updating the Agent for Windows, or executing a BIOS flash utility.

The mcontrol.ini file allocates the amount of time for the computer to automatically reboot after such an error. The default setting is 30 minutes. Depending on your network environment, to expedite job execution when there are numerous failures, you may want to reduce the time for automatic reboot.

To change the time for automatic reboot

  1. On the Configuration Server, browse to the <ConfigurationServerRoot>/config/sw directory and open one of the following files according to your network environment:

<ConfigurationServerRoot>/config/sw/udp60_02.en/mcontrol.ini

<ConfigurationServerRoot>/config/sw/tcp60_02.en/mcontrol.ini

  1. In the [Mcontrol] section of this file, locate the AutoRebootTimeout parameter. The default timeout value is 120 seconds.

  1. Change the AutoRebootTimeout value to a larger time duration. For example: AutoRebootTimeout = 1800.
