Exporting Computer Identification Data to a File

You can export computer identification information to an external comma, semicolon, colon, or tab-delimited text file.

Note:  Do not use the MMC Export List function, available from the Computers context menu, if you intend to later import the file into Symantec LiveState Delivery. MMC Export Lists can be used with other external applications, not with Symantec LiveState Delivery.

To export data that will later be imported to Symantec LiveState Delivery, use the Edit Computer Properties dialog Export to File button, described below.

To export computer identification data to a file

  1. Expand the server.

  2. Click Computers or All Computers.

  3. In the Result pane, select and right-click the computers whose data you want export.

  4. Select Edit Computer Properties. The Edit Computer Properties dialog box appears with the computer data you want to export.

  1. Click Export to File. The File Import/Export Setting dialog box appears with the default field delimiter from the Site Administration Properties - Import/Export Settings tab.

When this check box is clear, the new export file will overwrite an existing file.
