Image with Deploy Center Package Parameters

The Image with Deploy Center package executes PQImgCtr.exe on the managed computer.

The following table lists the Image Delivery with Deploy Center package parameters that must be set when the package is assigned to computers.

Parameter

Description

Image Location

This parameter defines where the image is stored as follows:

  • Images Directory: The image is stored in the \home\images directory of the server.

  • Package Depot: The image is stored in the root depot directory for the Image with DeployCenter package.

By default the client user does not have rights to write to this directory so images cannot be stored here unless the administrator as modified the permissions on this directory.

Image file name

The name of the image file.

Command file name

The name and location of a text file with the Image Center command line to execute Image Center. This lets you use options other than those available within  Symantec Image Delivery. The text file must be in the following location on the server:

//config/sw/%SWID%/cmd

where %SWID% is the package ID. The package ID is different for each language.

If this parameter is not empty then the remaining parameters are not displayed.

Image Action

This parameter lets you set the option of restoring an image file or creating an image file. The options are as follows:

  • Create Image: Creates an image file of a computer

  • Restore Image: Restores an image to a computer.

Note: Restoring an image is a data destructive operation.

Resize Partitions

Describes the options you can set to resize the partitions on the disk during a restore operation. The options are as follows:

  •  Yes: The partitions are resized using the remaining free space on the disk.

  • No: None of the partitions are resized

  • Type a number in MB to set the size of the first partition.

Additional Parameters

This parameter lets you add extra command-line parameters.

Direct drive access

Lets you select direct drive access.

Compression

This parameter sets the level of compression when saving a disk or partition to an image file. The greater the compression, the slower the process, as follows:

  •  -z1: Low compression (fast)

  • -z2: High compression (medium)

  • -z3 through -z9: Higher compression (slower)
