How to Assign Packages

You can control the automatic execution of package deployment by adjusting the Package Deployment settings in the Site Administration Properties dialog's Activities tab.

Note:  If assigning packages to more than one computer, make sure that the computer group is comprised only of Consistent Mode computers or of Cooperative Mode computers. Do not combine computers of both types for this installation operation.

To assign packages

  1. In the Scope pane, expand the server > Packages > Assignable Packages to display the packages in the Result pane.

  1. In the Scope pane, expand Computers > All Computers.

  1. In the Result pane, select the operating system package you want to deploy and drag it to a computer or computer group.

  2. In the Assign Packages dialog box, click OK or OK (Coop).

Click...

To...

OK

OK (Coop)

Stores this information in the Configuration Database without actually installing the packages.

OK Coop is enabled only if you have selected a Cooperative Mode computer.

If Symantec LiveState Delivery detects that a dependent package is required, the Add Required Packages dialog box appears.

  1. Select the required package(s). Select the Pre-OS Agent package that is compatible with the assigned operating system. Click Install.

The Manage Package Jobs: Set Execution Schedule dialog box appears.

  1. Select a package and click Select Date, Set Drive and/or Advanced.

  2. Select Date allows you to set the date in which the package will not be executed before.

  3. Set Drive allows you to set the drive where the package will be installed.

  4. Advanced allows you to set advanced schedule settings.

Note:  You cannot set a date for System packages.

Click OK. The Set Parameters dialog box appears.

  1. Click the tab for each package and set the parameters and click OK.

Note:  If you want to augment the settings that control the Agent for Windows on the computer, you can later select and install the Agent for Windows Settings package.

An Activity is created and the packages are deployed.
