Find Unmanaged Computers

You can find computers in your network that do not have an Agent for Windows installed on them, and are not in the Configuration Database.  You can deploy the Agent for Windows to these computers, and optionally determine what software is already installed on the computer, based on a predefined list of packages.

You can search for computers by IP address or domain name. The search uses DNS Lookup to find computers that do not have an Agent for Windows installed.

When you use the Command Center to deploy the Agent for Windows to computers, you have the option to try to determine the software that is already installed on the computer.

To find unmanaged computers:

  1. Expand the server, then right-click Unmanaged Computers and choose Find Unmanaged Computers.

  2. In the Find Unmanaged Computers dialog box, specify the search criteria.

When the search is finished, an  IP Range or Domain item appears in the Scope pane under Unmanaged Computers.

  1. In the Scope pane, click the IP Range or Domain name item to display the found computers in the Result pane.

Next, deploy the Agent for Windows to the computer.
