$DIR2$ through $DIR9$ are assigned values if the
DIR2 through DIR9 commands are used, respectively. Each is assigned
a value after the user is prompted for a path (see the DIR2 through
DIR9 commands).
Common uses include:
Adding the installation directory to the user's PATH.
Adding a device driver to the Config.sys file.
Providing the installation directory path to an external
executable.
