Running the command-line utilities on Windows Server 2008

Many of the utilities that this guide describes are command-line utilities. On Windows Server 2008 computers where User Account Control (UAC) is enabled, you must always run these utilities with Administrator privileges. Like any other command-line utility on Windows Server 2008, the Enterprise Vault utilities may not run properly without these elevated privileges.

To run a command-line utility with Administrator privileges on Windows Server 2008

  1. Right-click the Command Prompt shortcut on the Windows Start menu, and then click Run as Administrator.

  2. Change to the folder that contains the utility that you want to run (typically, c:\Program Files (x86)\Enterprise Vault).

  3. Type the command to start the utility.
