You can select any of the following:

• A network share that equates to a complete volume on the file server

• A network share that equates to a folder on the file server

• A local volume

Note the following if you want to use the archiving policy setting "Delete archived file when placeholder is deleted":

• Enterprise Vault deletes the archived files only if you perform all of the following tasks:

  • Configure a target volume whose share points to the root of the file system.

  • Apply an archiving policy to this root volume with the setting "Delete archived file when placeholder is deleted" selected.

  • Enable logging on the Celerra device.

• If you configure any additional target volumes that point to specific folders in the same file system, Enterprise Vault takes the "Delete archived file when placeholder is deleted" setting from the policy that applies to the root volume. It ignores the setting that applies to the folder volume.
