File Blocking monitors disk space in real time, according to the rules that you define in a volume policy.
This page enables you to control which File Blocking rules the policy applies. All the policy rules are applied to files. If more than one rule matches a file then the most restrictive rule applies.
Additionally, it is possible to scan the contents of compressed files, such as ZIP files.
You can also control monitoring as follows:
The volume policy enables you to specify any folders that must not be monitored and any folders that must be monitored.
You can edit the properties of a file server to define a list of users whose files are never blocked.
For each server you can enable a quarantine location for blocked files. Files that are blocked as a result of content scanning are moved automatically to the quarantine location. Files that are blocked because of their file types are never moved to quarantine. Optionally, you can define a central quarantine location for all file servers to use.
Click to view a summary of the file types that the policy affects. The summary shows the effect of applying all the selected rules.
