Vault Store Properties: General

Vault Store name. You can change this name if you want.

Details:

Site. The name of the Enterprise Vault Site where the vault store is located.
Computer. The name of the computer on which the vault store is located.
Description. Optional text that you can change as often as necessary. This text is visible only to Enterprise Vault administrators.
SQL Server. The name of the SQL Server that hosts the vault store database.
Database name. The name of the vault store database.
Vault Store ID. Shows the vault store ID from the vault store database. This ID is included in the name of the folder that contains the indexes for this vault store.

If you use tracing, vault store IDs may appear in the trace logs. You may be asked for this ID if you speak to Symantec Support.

Settings:

Remove safety copies. When Enterprise Vault archives an item, it makes a safety copy as part of the archiving process. The value you set here determines how soon Enterprise Vault deletes this safety copy.
The Remove safety copies options are as follows:
- Never. Enterprise Vault does not remove safety copies, even after the original items have been archived.
- After backup. Enterprise Vault does not remove safety copies until the partition that contains the archived items has been backed up. In the case of a Centera device safety copies are removed after replication.
  
  You cannot use this option with some WORM devices.
- After backup (immediate for Journaling). This is the same as the After backup option except for journal items which are removed immediately after they are archived.
  
  You cannot use this option with some WORM devices.
- Immediately after archive. All original items are removed immediately after they are archived.
  
  You cannot use this option with some WORM devices.

If you change the setting of Remove safety copies, the change does not always take effect for items that have already been stored in an archive. To make items with a status of archive pending change into shortcuts, you sometimes must do a backup after changing the setting of Remove safety copies.

You must do such a backup in the following circumstances:

After you change the setting from Never to Immediately after archive.
After you change the setting from After backup to Immediately after archive.

Note:

If you change this setting, you must stop and restart each Storage Service for the change to take effect.
