Vault Store Partition Properties: Migration

Migrate files. Enterprise Vault can automatically migrate collection files from an NTFS or network share vault store partition to a secondary storage location. The migration can help reduce storage costs by moving collection files to cheaper secondary storage devices. The drawback is that retrieval times increase.

Note that this functionality requires a separate license.

Migrate files older than. Enter the amount of time that must elapse since files were last modified before they are eligible for migration.
Remove collection files from primary storage. Files that have been copied to a secondary location can remain in their primary location for the period of time you specify here. This means that you can, if necessary, allow time for the secondary storage to be backed up before deleting the files from the primary location.

Secondary storage location. Shows the location to which this partition's collection files are migrated. Enter a local path, a mapped drive, or a full UNC path to specify the secondary storage location. You can also click Browse to browse to the location you want to use.

Note:

Unless you run the administration console on the same Enterprise Vault server as the storage service, you must use only full UNC paths. If you do not, the local paths and mapped drives on the computer where you run the administration console may not be valid on the computer where the storage service runs.

The account the storage service logs on under, normally the vault service account, must have read, write, and delete access on the secondary storage location.

When you have selected a secondary location and applied the new setting, you cannot change it.
