New vault store

Every archive is kept in a vault store.

Each vault store can hold many archives, as follows:

A single vault store can be divided into a number of partitions, which can be on different disks or media. As a vault store grows, you can add partitions to extend the space available.

A vault store can have only one open partition, which is the partition into which all new items are archived. You can change which partition is open at any time.

Note:

After you have created a partition in the new vault store, you must also create a vault store partition in it before you can start archiving in that vault store.

Note:

SQL services must be running so that the wizard can create the database.

Do you want to select an existing Public Folder Vault Store or create a new one. This question appears if you are adding a new Exchange Public Folder Task. If you want this new Exchange Public Folder Task to use a vault store that was created for another Exchange Public Folder Task, choose Select existing, otherwise choose Create new.

It does not matter whether the original Exchange Public Folder Task still exists. You could, for example, have two Exchange Public Folder Tasks using the same vault store, or you could remove an Exchange Public Folder Task and then add a new one that uses the same vault store.
