If auto-enable archiving is
on, site collection targets is added automatically whenever the
SharePoint Task runs. Subsites are also archived using the same
archiving settings as for the site collection target.
Do not use auto-enable unless it is acceptable to
use the same Retention Category for all subsites that are
enabled.

automatically create an archiving target for each new top-level
site when the SharePoint Task runs.
You can enable this setting
later, if required, by editing the properties of the target.
Alternatively, you can add individual sites as required.
