Complete the fields to create a new retention category:

• Name. Enter a name for this retention category.

• Description. Enter a description for this retention category. This is the description that will be seen by users so it must be meaningful to them.

• Retention. Use these fields to set the retention period, the minimum length of time items will be kept when archived using this retention category.

• Retain items forever. Select this option if you want items that are archived using this retention category to be kept forever.

• Prevent deletion of archived items in this category. Select this option to prevent the deletion of items archived using this retention category. Regardless of the retention period, while this option is selected, neither storage expiry nor users can delete items that have been archived using this retention category.

• Hide this category from users. Select this option to prevent users from using this retention category when archiving new items. The category is still available to users when they search for items already archived.

• Administrative note. Use this field to enter your own notes. This information is visible only to Enterprise Vault administrators.
