The New File Group wizard helps you to create a file group for use in FSA policies.

A file group enables you to specify several different file types to that are to be treated together for the purposes of file archiving.

For example, you could create a file group called "Web Pages" and within it have the file types *.htm, *.html, and *.gif. Within a FSA policy you could then define a rule that applied to "Web Pages".

There is no requirement for you to use file groups. It is possible to specify individual file types when defining policy rules.
