PST Migration: Select the migration settings

Which folder in the mailbox do you want to correspond to the root folder of the PST:

The root folder. The highest-level folders in the PST file are placed at the same level as the mailbox's Inbox.

Note:

If there are items in the PST file that are not in a folder but are at the top of the folder structure (in Top of Information Store), they are imported to the mailbox's Top of Information Store level. In some versions of Outlook this may be hidden by the Outlook Today page, in which case users may have some trouble finding those imported items.

This folder under the root folder. PST Migrator creates a new folder at the same level as the Inbox folder, using the name you specify here.

If a user has multiple PSTs, do you want the folder structures to be merged or to remain separate:

Merged. Select this to make PST Migrator combine the folder structure of an imported PST with the existing folder structure. For example, the contents of the PST files' Inbox folders are combined.

Note:

If you have specified that the root folder of the mailbox is to correspond to the root folder of the PST file, the PST folder structure is merged with the mailbox structure. For example, all Inbox items are placed in the mailbox's Inbox.

Separate. Select this to make PST Migrator create a new folder structure for each PST's shortcuts. For each PST file, PST Migrator creates a new folder with the same name as the PST file and then reconstructs the original folder structure.
