Provisioning Group Properties: Archiving Defaults

Automatically enable mailboxes. Controls whether Enterprise Vault automatically enables archiving for new mailboxes in this provisioning group.

A new mailbox is one that is new to Enterprise Vault. When you first start using Enterprise Vault, all the mailboxes are new. With this setting selected, all existing mailboxes are enabled when the Exchange Mailbox Task next runs. All mailboxes created in the future will also be enabled. The associated archives are automatically created.
If there is a mailbox that you do not want to enable, you can explicitly disable it by running the Disable Mailbox wizard. This prevents the mailbox being enabled automatically, so the mailbox is never archived unless you choose to enable it.
- Initially suspend archiving. Controls whether Enterprise Vault suspends archiving for each new mailbox that it automatically enables. Archiving does not start until the user of a new mailbox enables archiving. This gives the users the opportunity to change archiving defaults, if required, before archiving begins.

Override the inherited Vault Store. Controls the vault store to use when automatically-enabling mailboxes.

This can be set at following levels:

Enterprise Vault server properties
Exchange Server properties
Provisioning group properties

By default, this vault store setting is inherited from the Exchange Server properties. If the vault store is not specified in the Exchange Server properties then the setting in the Enterprise Vault server properties is used.

Override the inherited Indexing Service. Controls the Indexing Service to use when automatically-enabling mailboxes.

This can be set at following levels:

Enterprise Vault server properties
Exchange Server properties
Provisioning group properties

By default, this Indexing Service setting is inherited from the Exchange Server properties. If the Indexing Service is not specified in the Exchange Server properties then the setting in the Enterprise Vault server properties is used.

Retention Category. The Retention Category that is applied by default when archiving items from the selected mailboxes. This setting can be overridden by the individual users, who can select from the available Retention Categories.
