You have chosen to make this computer part of the Vault Site shown.
. Enter an unqualified DNS alias for the computer on which you are configuring Enterprise Vault. For example, evserver1. You do not need to add a domain suffix. Enterprise Vault will look up the alias in DNS and automatically add the domain suffix.
If you are configuring in a cluster environment, the computer alias must point to the virtual server name.
If this is the first computer to be added to the site, the computer alias entered will also be used for the Vault Site alias.
If you need to qualify the alias, for example if the unqualified alias is not unique, select , and either type the required suffix in the box, or select the required suffix from the drop-down list of domains known to this computer. Note that it may take a few minutes to generate the list of domains.
We recommend that you use an unqualified alias, as this helps if any reconfiguration is needed in the future.
If you are not configuring in a cluster environment the computer alias can be any of the following:
(Recommended) A DNS entry whose value maps to the name of this computer. For example, evserver1, which could map to thisserver.domain.local.
The DNS alias must already exist before you can specify it here. If you do not have access to the DNS Server in your organization, you may need to request a DNS alias from your network manager.
(Not recommended) A DNS name for the computer. For example, thisserver.domain.local.
This limits reconfiguration because the DNS name is tied to a particular computer. It is possible to reassign a DNS name to another computer, but this is not as simple as reassigning an alias.
