This wizard enables you to configure an Enterprise Vault server. Before you run this wizard, read the Enterprise Vault introductory documentation.
As part of the configuration, the Enterprise Vault server must join a . A Vault Site consists of one or more Enterprise Vault servers that share configuration settings. Site-level properties can provide default settings for all the servers in the Site. An Enterprise Vault server can join only one Site.
A Vault Site is located in a on an Enterprise Vault server. The computer containing the Vault Directory has a that the other Enterprise Vault services and tasks use to access the configuration information.
The configuration information is held in the . This can be located on a machine separate from the Enterprise Vault servers, if required. You must use the normal SQL Server Enterprise Manager tools to monitor and manage the database.
This Configuration Wizard helps you to do the following:
If you are configuring the first or only Enterprise Vault server, create a Vault Directory on this computer, and create a Vault Site in the Vault Directory.
If you are configuring a second or subsequent Enterprise Vault server, either do as above, or select an existing Vault Directory on another Enterprise Vault server computer, and create or join a Vault Site there.
Create a Vault Directory Database, or specify an existing one to use.
Add the appropriate Enterprise Vault services to this computer and configure the services appropriately.
Create a Vault Monitoring Database to hold monitoring data, if one does not already exist.
If you want to create a new Vault Directory on this computer, select .
If you want to use an existing Vault Directory, select and specify the unqualified alias of the computer containing the Vault Directory. The alias should be the same one used when Enterprise Vault was originally configured on the Vault Directory computer.
