The Configure Sharing wizard enables you to configure the sharing levels for vault stores within the vault store group.
To achieve single instance storage, Enterprise Vault splits an item that is to be archived into shareable parts, named SIS parts. The vault store sharing levels determine whether Enterprise Vault shares identical SIS parts between vault stores in the group, or within a vault store, or not at all.
Each vault store must have one of the following sharing levels:
Note the following:
Any changes you make to the sharing levels do not act retrospectively.
If you have partitions hosted on EMC Centera devices, you can configure the Centera's device-level sharing independently of Enterprise Vault single instance storage. A Centera-hosted partition can participate in device-level sharing regardless of the sharing level of the vault store that contains the partition.
If the vault store group does not have a fingerprint database, the wizard helps you to create one. The wizard asks you for the following:
The fingerprint database can grow very quickly. To improve efficiency it uses many filegroups to hold the fingerprint data. For best performance, spread the filegroup locations over a number of devices.
