Work through the following steps to fix the problem. You may not need to try all the steps.

  1. Check that the Indexing and Storage services are running.

  2. Check that no index volume is marked as Failed, as follows:

    • In the left pane of the Administration Console, right-click Archives and, on the shortcut menu, click Index Volumes.

    • In the Manage Index Volumes dialog, select Failed and then click Find.

    • If the search finds a failed index volume, right-click the failed index volume and, on the shortcut menu, click Update Index Volume.

  3. Check the Enterprise Vault event log for errors from the StorageCrawler component that are related to the recall of items from the archive. These are items that could not be added to the index.

  4. Run the checks again to make sure that you have corrected the problem.
