Status: Check for index locations in backup mode

Monitoring tab alert name: Index location in backup mode

Problem: One or more index locations are in backup mode.

Your backup procedure may have failed to take the index location out of backup mode.

You must put indexes into backup mode before you back them up and take them out of backup mode when the backup is complete. This alert indicates that the index location was still in backup mode at the time the check ran.

Work through the following steps to fix the problem. You may not need to try all the steps.

  1. It may be correct that the index location is in backup mode at this time. Make sure that the alert ran at time when the backup should not have been running. Change the alert schedule if necessary.

See Checking the monitoring alert configurations.

  2. Check that the backup has succeeded. Perhaps the backup job failed and so has not taken the index location store out of backup mode.

  3. Check the Enterprise Vault event log for errors that might indicate why the index location was not taken out of backup mode. Correct any problems that you find.

  4. When you have corrected the backup issue, take the index location out of backup mode.

See Taking an index location out of backup mode.

  5. Run the checks again to make sure that you have corrected the problem.

    See Running the status checks.
