Create or Edit Asset Group: Create Common Asset Field Filters

The Create Common Asset Field Filters panel lets you create a filter that is based on the values of the fields that are common across all the asset types. The panel presents you a list of common asset fields. You can specify the values for the selected fields. The asset group is formed based on the values that you specify in this panel.

You can use start mark (*) as the wild card when you enter the values in the fields.

Consider the following example:

You want to create a dynamic asset group based on the Location field.
You want to create an asset group of the assets for which the location starts with abc.
You can use the asterix mark (*) and specify the following value in the Location field:

abc*. With abc*, an asset group is created of all the assets for which the locations tarts with abc irrespective of what the following characters in the name are.

You can use the semi colon (;) to specify multiple values for a field. If you specify multiple values, the value expression is formed with an OR.

Consider the following example:

You want to specify the values hr, finance,administration for the Department field.
You want to create a dynamic asset group of the assets based on the Department.

You want to include the assets that belong to either hr or finance or administration.
You can use the semi colon (;) and specify the following values in the Department field:

hr;finance;administration

The Create Common Asset Field Filters panel presents the following options:

Name	Lets you specify the display name of the asset. Assets with the specified display name are included in the asset group. For example if you want to create an asset group for the Windows File asset type, you must specify the display name in the following format: `domain name\machine name\file name(full path)`
Location	Lets you specify the asset location. Assets that reside at the specified location are included in the group.
Department	Lets you specify the asset department. Assets that belong to the specified department are included in the asset group.
Owner	Lets you specify the asset owner. Assets with the specified owner are included in the asset group.
Custodian	Lets you specify the custodian for the assets. Assets with the specified custodian are included in the asset group.
Tags	Lets you specify the tag name and the tag path. Assets that have the specified tag are included in the asset group. If you specify more than one tags as filters. The tag expression is formed with an OR. The assets with either of the specified tags are included in the asset group.
Risk rating	Lets you specify the risk rating. Assets with the specified risk rating are included in the asset group.
Include assets with any of the above filters	Includes the asset in the asset group if the asset meets the criteria that is specified in any of the above filters.
