Set Parameters Dialog Box for a Computer Group or Profile

Use this dialog box to set parameters for the packages being deployed to the computer group or the packages that are part of a package profile. This dialog box contains tabs for all the packages for which parameters must be defined.

If the Set Parameters dialog moves to the background, such as when you are reading the package info file, move it to the foreground by clicking the Windows taskbar Set Parameters button, or by pressing Alt-Tab.

Tab Page

The dialog box shows an individual tab page for each package that is being deployed. Each computer in the group has its own column. Each tab page provides the following information.

Item

Description

Name

The long name describing the package.

Version

The version number of the package as defined by the Version parameter in the [INFO] section of the Package Configuration File (config.swp).

Revision

The version number of the CCM Package Configuration File (config.swp) as defined by the SWPRelease parameter in the [INFO] section of the Package Configuration File.

Parameters Grid

The Parameters grid displays the following columns of information about the packages you have selected to be deployed to the computer group.

Column

Description

Name

The display name for the parameter.

The package parameters can be dependent on each other. If dependencies are defined, CCM checks the parameter entries and displays the dependent parameters. The parameter names of dependent parameters are indented.

Type

The data type of the parameter.

!

Indicates that the parameter is mandatory. You must enter a value.

No exclamation point means that the parameter is optional.

<Computer Name>

The names of the computers in the group to which you are deploying packages display as column headings.

The parameter values display below the computer name. Click these fields to set values for the parameters. The method for setting the values depends on the parameter type. For example: A Selection type allows you to select a value from a drop-down list. A String type allows you to type a string in the field.

TIP: You can change a parameter value for all of the computers in a computer group simultaneously by double-clicking the parameter name in the Name column. The entire row is highlighted, and the Set List Parameter Value dialog box opens where you can select or type the parameter value.
