Mobile computers are CCM managed computers that are intermittently connected to a CCM Configuration Server. Mobile computers can be connected to the CCM server using LAN or RAS connection.
While connected to the LAN, mobile computers are treated as standard CCM managed computers. While communicating with a dial-up RAS connection, mobile computers can download mobile computer enabled packages and access vendor files from a designated Vendor File Depot.
The following affect the administration and behavior of mobile computers for the offline execution of packages:
The CCM Windows Agent Use as mobile computer? parameter identifies the managed computer as a mobile computer.
Additional parameters of the CCM Windows Agent control the behavior of package execution on a mobile computer.
The modification of the package’s config.swp file enables offline execution.
The connection between the mobile computer and the CCM server determines which packages can be executed.
The CCM Configuration Server’s defined Action Period determines the timing of package execution.
The configuration of the CCM Windows Agent Support service enables the local availability of the mobile computer’s configuration data.
The computer’s display name in the Command Center provides the sole means of easily identifying mobile computers.
