The CCM Background Copy service is installed when the CCM Windows Agent package is deployed and executed on the managed computer. The Background Copy service performs background actions on the managed computer without logging off the current user and without interfering with normal desktop operations.
NOTE: CCM Background Copy service only supports Windows NT, Windows 2000, and Windows XP managed computers.
The background actions are defined in the Background Copy service’s configuration file which can be deployed to managed computers as a CCM package. Some typical background actions might include the routine copying of data, the update of virus definitions, or the download of a department-specific document or template. The configuration of the CCM Windows Agent determines the behavior of the CCM Background Copy service.
