After you have added computers to a group, and defined the formatting and partitioning settings, you must either:
Install the operating system and the CCM network software for Consistent Mode computers (A blue icon identifies Consistent Mode computers), or
Inform CCM of the software installed on Cooperative Mode computers (A yellow icon identifies Cooperative Mode computers) and install the CCM Windows Agent.
NOTE: Make sure that the computer group is comprised only of Consistent Mode computers or of Cooperative Mode computers. Do not combine computers of both types for this operating system installation operation.
Before you begin deploying packages, you should adjust the Package Deployment settings in the Command Center Properties dialog's CCM Activities tab, These settings, where possible, control the automatic execution of package deployment.
Tip: You can monitor the deployment process in a new window. Right-click the Scope pane's CCM Activities item and choose New Window from Here. Tile the new window and the main window, and monitor the activity.
To install the operating system and CCM system packages on a computer group:
In the Scope pane, expand the server name item.
In the Scope pane, expand the Packages item.
TIP: You can open a secondary window so you can drag packages from it to a computer group in the main window. In the Scope pane, right-click the Packages item and choose New Window from Here.
Click the System item to display CCM operating system packages in the Result pane.
In the Scope pane, expand the Computers item in the Scope pane.
Scroll the Scope pane to display the Computer Group item to which you want to deploy the packages.
In the Result pane, select the operating system package you want to deploy.
NOTE: Make sure the operating system you are selecting is compatible with the defined partition formatting.
Drag the operating system package to the Computer Group item in the Scope pane.
In the Assign Packages dialog box, click OK or OK Coop.

Start a Managing Package Jobs CCM Activity and deploy and install the package on the specified computer group. |
OK Coop |
Enters this information into the computer configuration file without actually installing the packages. OK Coop is enabled only if you have selected a Cooperative Mode computer. |
In the Add Required Packages dialog box listing operating system setup files that are required, select the check box that applies the selection to the remaining computers in the group wherever possible.
Click Install.
In the Add Required Packages dialog box listing the CCM Windows Agent packages, select the check box that applies the selection to the remaining computers in the group wherever possible.
Select the most recent Windows Agent and click Install.
In the Add Required Packages dialog box listing the CCM Pre-OS Agent packages, select the check box that applies the selection to the remaining computers in the group wherever possible.
Select Pre-OS Agent that is compatible with the assigned operating system and with the partitioning and formatting scheme and click Install.
The Manage Packages: Choose Drive and Date dialog box opens. The operating system, CCM Windows Agent, and the CCM Pre-OS Agent packages must be installed on Drive C.
Note: You cannot set a date for installation for System packages.
Click OK.
In the Set Parameters dialog box select the tab for the CCM Windows Agent package and double-click the Value field for each parameter to set the desired values.
On Cooperative Mode computers, you must set the Desktop Agent parameters here, AND later when you manually install the Windows Agent. The parameter values in both instances must be identical.
TIP: If you want to augment the settings that control the CCM Windows Agent on the computer, you can later select and install the CCM Windows Agent Settings Action package.
To set parameter values, select the tab for the operating system package and double-click the Value field for each parameter.
NOTE: If you fail to set a required parameter, CCM will prompt you with an error message and automatically scroll to the next required parameter value.
Click OK.
CCM sets the Managing Package Jobs Activity to Done. The jobs will be executed the next time the computer polls the CCM server, either during its specified Action period or when the job is explicitly pushed.
NOTE: If you are setting up a Cooperative Mode computer, you need to manually install the CCM Windows Agent on the computer. Make sure that the CCM Windows Agent parameter value settings are identical to those that you just set here.
For instructions about installing the Windows Agent on Cooperative Mode computers, using ONwards, see the documentation provided with the ONwards tool.
