CCM manages computers by deploying packages to them. These packages are stored in the CCM Package Depot.
A package is a collection of files and software designed to carry out a particular task or install a particular piece of software on a CCM managed computer. All the information needed by CCM to deploy the package and carry out its assigned duties on the managed computer is contained within that package.
The CCM Package Depot consists of the following directories:
Software Directory |
Contains |
ccm\config\sw |
The files that CCM uses to control the installation of software on computers and to configure the computers after installation. |
ccm\config\services\ccmdb |
A parsed representation of the package’s configuration file, config.swp. |
ccm\depot |
3rd-party vendor program files such as the setup.exe programs and associated files typically found on the vendor CD. |
A package is populated into the CCM Package Depot using the Package Import Tool, a tool that places each component of the package in the appropriate directory.
