Operating system issues with Intel® dual-core
processors (Hyper-Threading enabled)
Some versions of Microsoft® Windows® and
distributions of Linux may hang during OS installation, fail to
complete OS installation, or fail to boot after installation on
servers with either three or four Intel® dual-core processors
installed.
Action:
Microsoft® Windows Server™ 2003-based media
System may hang during installation or
during boot. Windows Server™ 2003 SP1 Slipstream does not exhibit
this issue.
If SP1 Slipstream media is not available,
the base media installation can be performed using one of the
following methods:
Install the OS with only one or two
processor(s)
Disable Hyper-Threading in RBSU, then apply
SP1 before adding the additional processor(s) and re-enabling
Hyper-Threading
