Server power-on problems flowchart

Some servers have an internal health LED and an external health LED, while other servers have a single system health LED. The system health LED provides the same functionality as the two separate internal and external health LEDs. Depending on the model, the internal health LED and external health LED may appear either solid or flash. Both conditions represent the same symptom.

Symptoms:

• The server does not power on.
• The system power LED is off or amber.
• The external health LED is red, flashing red, amber, or flashing amber.
• The internal health LED is red, flashing red, amber, or flashing amber.
• The system health LED is red, flashing red, amber, or flashing amber.

Possible causes:

• Improperly seated or faulty power supply
• Loose or faulty power cord
• Power source problem
• Improperly seated component or interlock problem
