The Symantec Backup Exec Agent for VMware Virtual Infrastructure (Agent for VMware) lets you back up and restore virtual machines that use ESX or Virtual Center.
With the Agent for VMware, you can do the following:
Increase the effectiveness of VMware Virtual Infrastructure, including VMware ESX server, VMware VirtualCenter, and VMware Consolidated Backup (VCB).
Use VirtualCenter to automatically discover of ESX servers and virtual machines.
Use the VMware VCB framework to perform off-host snapshot backups without the use of VCB scripting or an application agent or a database agent on the ESX server.
Perform LAN, SAN, and iSCSI VCB backups of virtual machines without installing an application agent or a database agent on the virtual machines.
Use Backup Exec's Granular Recovery Technology (GRT) to restore individual files and folders from full Windows image backups.
Ensure consistent backups of VSS-compliant applications such as Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SQL, Microsoft SharePoint, and Microsoft Active Directory.
