About backing up data with the Remote Media Agent

You create a backup job for the Remote Media Agent from the Backup Exec media server.

See Creating a backup job by setting job properties.

You can select specific options for the job by selecting the agent type from the Properties pane.

Table: Options for Remote Media Agent backups

In the Properties pane, select

See Backing up Linux and UNIX servers.

Linux servers that have the Remote Media Agent installed appear by IP address or name under Storage Devices on the Devices tab. If you expand the server, you can select the storage device that you want the job to run on.

Backup Exec does not include remote devices in the All Devices pool. Symantec recommends that you create a separate device pool for the devices that are attached to a Remote Media Agent.
